PROCESS

Garden dinner

Initial visit

There is no charge for my first visit. Its purpose is for me to meet you, listen to your ideas and requirements for the garden, and for us to look at the site together. I shall then be able to establish what level of service you may need. The meeting will also give us a chance to discuss in more detail how the design process works.

Contract

If you then decide to appoint me as your garden designer I will draw up a contract as the basis for our proceeding to the next stages.

Site survey and assimilation of program data

The site will then need to be measured and surveyed. I make use of the most detailed existing local Ordnance Survey maps as well as making my own site measurements and conducting a soil analysis. I also investigate, where necessary, local planning regulations/restrictions and analyze existing on-site and immediate off-site conditions. All this leads to the development of a base map.

Preliminary drawings and concept plans

I then provide a scaled drawing and design layout to give you a clear idea of how the garden will look and as the basis for a detailed discussion between us. Subsequent to this, amendments are made and I then submit an outline planting design. Refinements to this plan can be made before I produce the final master plan.

Final master plans

This will include a detailed planting design plan with elevation drawings. Additional construction drawings may be required for specific garden structures, water features or hard landscaping. Specialist advice and input may be required. Once the final master plan has been agreed it will be costed by agreed Landscape Construction companies. The costs will include project management. Plants are sourced from specialist nurseries and costed separately.

Ongoing site design visits

These will be required as the garden is built and their number will depend on the complexity of the final design. An estimate of the cost of these visits will be provided.

Maintenance

This can be arranged and a personalised maintenance schedule prepared if you require it
